When Suzanne Politi, 45, first got her job with Merseytravel she felt
training with learndirect helped her do her job better.
Since finishing her computer qualification she has become a team leader and really enjoys supporting her own team to learn and do well at work, just like her.
More skills make sense
“When I began working in Merseytravel’s Liverpool offices I realised I wanted to develop my computer skills," says Suzanne.
"I’ve always been the kind of person to take advantage of opportunities so when the company suggested I study for the ECDL computer qualification I started as soon as I could.
"I worked both in the centre and at home and the tutors were always on hand to help whenever I needed them.”
Loving to learn
Suzanne really enjoyed her course with learndirect, so much so that when she was made team leader of the Merseytravel Spaceport Attraction, she couldn’t wait to encourage others to start learning too.
“When I sat down with my team for their 1-2-1s, I explained the opportunities that were available within Merseylearn to develop their skills," says Suzanne.
"Although some lacked confidence at first, I set up rotas so everyone would have a chance to learn during their working week and it’s been fantastic to see their development."
Everyone benefits
"Now all the staff at the Spaceport attraction are learning in some way. Three have also moved up to a more senior level as a result of their training,” says Suzanne.
From IT qualifications to an NVQ assessor
Suzanne is now training with Merseylearn to help assess people who are doing NVQs with learndirect.
